A clear description helps the provider prepare. Record whether the problem occurs at the beginning, during a cycle or when draining or heating. Note any error code and whether the issue is intermittent.
For a dryer
The CPSC advises cleaning the lint screen before or after each load and checking the exhaust system appropriately. Longer drying times or overheating should not be ignored. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and use a qualified service provider for work beyond normal user care.
For a washer
Record leaks, unusual vibration, drainage behavior and the cycle used. Stop use if there is a hazard. Do not bypass a lid lock, reach into moving equipment or dismantle electrical components.
